Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with goalposts at either end. The objective of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal. The sport is known as “soccer” in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to differentiate it from American football.

In football, players primarily use their feet to pass, dribble, and shoot the ball, although other body parts, except for the arms and hands (unless by the goalkeeper), are also permitted to control the ball. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, with millions of players and fans. It is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and includes organized leagues and international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, and it has a significant cultural impact, inspiring passion and community among supporters.
